June 29, 2008 – Fuel won’t siphon

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

Draining the fuel was more difficult than expected.  A siphon would not work so I removed the fuel filter and turned the key repeated on and off to pump the fuel out.  We removed seven gallons and gave four to neighbor because I didn’t have containers.  Well prepared to continue, obviously.  Total cost to date, $16.

Update – I used the gas in the lawnmower and now it’s dead too.  I figured it was a Honda and could handle it.  Besides, what do you do with a couple of gallons of bad gas?  Neighbor’s mower still works fine.

June 22, 2008 – Garage prep

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

Today I cleaned the garage to provide a good workspace.  I expect the 2-car garage will get cluttered once parts start coming off and we continue to park inside.  A big challenge will be doing all this in half of a two car garage so my wife can keep parking inside.  Oh, and we’re not allowed to work on cars in our neighborhood, depending on how you read the covenants.  So the secret is that we’re building a spaceship.

The ping pong table was an obstacle, so I moved that into the front bedroom.  The driver’s side is going to be fun to work on.
